WSBC 2015: Planning for the “Miracle”

“The Miracle of Abstinence!” is the theme for the 2015 World Service Business Conference, which convenes in Albuquerque, New Mexico USA, April 27–May 2. The theme emphasizes OA’s 2015 Strategic Plan, and workshops will focus on abstinence. For a look ahead, check out the tentative Conference Schedule.

The delegate registration deadline is December 29, 2014. The First Conference e-Mailing included the delegate registration form and instructions, trustee application form and instructions, and sample motion/amendment forms. All First e-Mailing documents are available on the OA website (

Important Dates

World Service Business Conference Dates
December 10: New Business Motions/Bylaw Amendments postmarked to the WSO. Registered service bodies, trustees, the Region Chairs Committee, and the Conference Bylaws Committee can propose new business to be placed on the Conference agenda and/or amendments to the Bylaws, Subpart B. Submit requests to the chair of the Board of Trustees, postmarked or electronic time and date stamped by December 10, 2014. Find formats for Submission of Proposed OA New Business Motions and Bylaw Amendments on the OA website.

December 29: Delegate Registration form due to the WSO by December 29, 2014. Find an interactive form and delegate instructions on the OA website.

Fellowship Days
November 15: International Day Experiencing Abstinence (IDEA). Celebrated the third Saturday in November, this day encourages OA members worldwide to begin or reaffirm their abstinence from compulsive overeating.

December 12: Twelfth-Step-Within Day. Celebrated on December 12 (12/12) each year to encourage OA service bodies, groups, and individual members to reach out to those within the Fellowship who are still suffering from compulsive eating behaviors.


Lifeline deadline: Share your Sponsorship Story by Nov 15
Give service and use the Tool of writing by contributing your story of recovery to Lifeline magazine. The March issue focuses on the gift and service of Sponsorship. See the 2015 Lifeline topics and deadlines, and be inspired to share your story of experience, strength, and hope.
