- Most in-person meetings have now either gone virtual or suspended meetings. Call the regular meeting contact to find out current status and any virtual meeting details.
- Intergroup will not post links to specific virtual meeting, but if you need to list a different contact for virtual meeting info, notify the webmaster (email@example.com) and newsletter editor (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we will post those.
- If you are setting up (or have set up) a virtual meeting, please bear in mind the following, in keeping with our Traditions:
- You should not use a virtual meeting account that you have access to through your employer: this is an inappropriate use of your employer’s resources; in addition, some companies record all virtual meetings by default (potentially breaching anonymity).
- There are free options, although they may have limitations, and paid options should cost less than rent.
- Check with your landlord to confirm that they will NOT be charging you rent while you cannot meet in person: most churches have discontinued all meetings in their facilities and are not charging rent during that time.
- It’s vital to maintain the 7th Tradition during this time: while our meetings might not be paying rent (or paying less for a virtual solution), we need to continue to support both:
- Our own recovery through this important Tradition, as well as
- Service bodies (Intergroup, SOAR 8, and WSO), who maintain our websites, disseminate information, and generally help us stay connected and who are now more crucial than ever!
- While we obviously cannot physically pass the basket, here are some alternatives:
- Cash: Keep an envelope, and when you attend a virtual meeting, put whatever you would normally have put in the basket in the envelope. You can bring it to the meeting once we can meet in person again.
- Check: Mail a check to your group treasurer (IF they are willing to provide their mailing address).
- E-payment: Use an electronic payment system (IF your treasurer has such an account and is willing to share the details).
Meeting Treasurers should decide which (if any) non-cash options they are willing and able to provide and communicate what options are available to your meeting attendees. Among the methods available for a given meeting, each individual should make the decision of which to use that best suits them.
