The new Brown Book includes forty never-before-published stories of recovery by members from around the world and can be purchased bundled with the previous edition, Overeaters Anonymous, Second Edition, at a lower cost. The combination package of both books for one, lower cost is available only from the OA bookstore (while quantities last).

World Service Business Conference Dates

February 26, 2015: Agenda Questionnaires due. Submit to the WSO, postmarked by the February 26, 2015, deadline.

March 13, 2015: Conference e-Documents #3, including trustee nominee applications, agenda questionnaire results, and manuscripts submitted for Conference Seal of Approval, posted on the World Service Business Conference page on oa.org. Note: Materials will not be mailed.

Fellowship Day

February 28, 2015, 11:30 a.m. PST: Unity Day. On the last Saturday of February each year, OA recognizes the strength of the Fellowship worldwide by asking OA members to pause to reaffirm the strength inherent in OA’s unity.

The Miracle of Abstinence!
The theme for the 2015 World Service Business Conference—The Miracle of Abstinence!—was approved at the OA Board of Trustees’ meeting in August. Read the Welcome Letter from Board of Trustees Chair Joe L. to learn more Conference details as well as about the responsibilities and privileges OA delegates participate in at this annual “collective group conscience.” The 2015 WSBC will be held April 27–May 2, in Albuquerque, NM USA.

NEW! 2015 WSBC Agenda

Attendees can look forward to a week of Fellowship, dynamic workshops, and business meetings, filled with inspiration and information to take home to their service bodies and groups. November 1 Deadline: WSBC Delegate Fund Applications
Intergroups and service boards can apply for assistance to send delegates to the annual World Service Business Conference. To apply, complete the Delegate Support Fund application and mail, fax, or email (sarmstrong@oa.org) it to the World Service Office by November 1, 2014. The Delegate Support Fund is made possible, in the spirit of Tradition Seven, by OA member contributions.

NEW! “Our Invitation to You”
The updated “Our Invitation to You,” abridged, is now available. Find it online in the revised Suggested Meeting Format and Suggested Telephone Meeting Format. The update, approved by the OA Board of Trustees at the August meeting, draws from the unabridged “Our Invitation to You” published in Overeaters Anonymous, Third Edition. The book was approved at the 2014 WSBC and will be available to order soon.

Register Your OA Email Loop on OA.org
At the 2014 WSBC, delegates passed a policy to courtesy list email loops. Overeaters Anonymous email groups, commonly called loops (groups that do not meet in real time), may list their group on oa.org as a courtesy listing. To learn more about OA email loops and their requirements or to register your loop, visit the OA website at http://www.oa.org/email-loops/.

NEW! Translation Funds Application Deadline Added
In the spirit of Step Twelve, a third opportunity to apply for translation funds has been added to the OA calendar. To apply, complete the Translations Funds Application and mail, fax, or email (ddemoss@oa.org) it to the World Service Office by November 1, 2014. Applications will be reviewed and funds allocated at the November Board of Trustees meeting.

Translation Funds Granted: Congratulations to the Greek National Service Board for receiving funds to translate the soon-to-be-released Overeaters Anonymous, Third Edition. The group is the first international service body to seek and receive funds to translate the book. Well done!

Monthly Telephone Workshops
Call in this month for two in-depth, stimulating OA workshops. First up, on September 7th, 3-4 p.m. EDT, “Literature: Heart and Soul of OA,” a focus on Voices of Recovery, For Today, and the companion Workbooks for each. The workshops will feature an OA Trustee as speaker. A week later, September 14th, 3-4 p.m. EDT, dial in for “Promises,” featuring a Region Chair as speaker. WSBC 2014 Final Conference Report Available

The WSBC 2014 Final Conference Report is now available for download. Included within are minutes of the business sessions; officer reports; summaries of the Conference workshops, each focusing on OA’s primary purpose; reports on committee meetings; and other valuable information delegates can carry back to their OA groups and services bodies. Save the date for next year’s event, 2015 WSBC, April 27–May 2, Albuquerque, NM USA.

At WSBC 2014, the delegates passed a policy on courtesy listing email loops. Email groups, commonly called loops, do not meet in real time and take one of three formats: discussion loops, meeting loops, or business loops. The Professional Exhibits Fund helps service bodies exhibit at professional conferences and conventions. This important program extends the OA presence in the professional community, and designated contributions from the Fellowship fully fund the program. The fund is in need of replenishing! If you or your service body would like to make a contribution, complete the contributions form and check the Professional Exhibits Fund box or choose that option from the designation drop-down menu on our contributions page.
