This committee focuses on the use of the internet as a communication tool and storage facility for Intergroup documents. The committee includes at least one person serving as a webmaster for the Triangle OA website (triangleoa.org). The webmaster coordinates the posting of Intergroup information such as upcoming events, reports, resource material, mailing lists, mail accounts, newsletters. The webmaster also coordinates the forwarding of email to the proper people. The Hi-tech committee is responsible for maintaining the Triangle Intergroup website and anything else related to the internet as a communication vehicle. Currently we have a website hosted by commercial company, an internet domain name (www.TriangleOA.org) and email boxes and email distribution lists. On our website we maintain the current list of OA meetings in our Intergroup, the newsletters since 2004, Triangle Intergroup meeting minutes located inside the newsletters, a calendar of OA events, our bylaws, links to OA resources, a contact form, Intergroup reports, policies, procedures and helpful information for Intergroup representatives and committees.

It may be possible to invoke the OA World Service Find a meeting function with our Intergroup number so that there is one place on line meeting information is maintained.
Logon as the administrator to the word press dash board stored on our web server. This is where you create posts, which are the news items displayed in the chronological order they are entered on the main web page. Posts can contain text and media. Media are files that might contain pictures, videos, sound clips. They are stored as files by our web hosting service. The media files have to be added (loaded/uploaded) to the <
Word press is a software program that is constantly updated and the updated versions are made available by A Small Orange. The webmaster can use the tools provided by A Small Orange to install a new version of Word Press.
Changes to the mail forwarders are made by the webmaster based on requests by Intergroup members. The webmaster is set up to be the moderator for all mailing lists. Some emails are sent to lists inappropriately and must be rejected. These email addresses can be added to the list of emails to reject all the time. All the mailing lists, allow people to join and leave the list. The webmaster acting as list administrator may have to approve the subscription. The Intergroup will need a policy on the maintenance of mail accounts. In December 2014, there were four mail accounts.
Log on to the cPanel provided by A Small Orange. This provided accesses to many functions. Only a few are used by the Intergroup. A few are named in the following list.

There are many ways provided by A Small Orange to add and change information on the Website. We are using a program called Word Press. It is installed on our host. When changes are made to Word Press they are distributed by A Small Orange and our webmaster has to install the changes on our host.
The Word Press program is updated by the manufacturer . A Small Orange provides notices, tools, and installation instructions when a new update is available.
Be sure to back up the website before upgrading word press in case there are problems after the upgrade and we need to uninstall the upgrade.
The www.triangleOA.org is a domain name that represents our website. We protect it by registering it. This prevents the name being used by other organizations. The organization that controls domain names charges a yearly fee to protect our domain name. The treasurer pays it. The bill comes to the webmaster and is sent to the treasurer.
